i am not the best cook/baker. because i have i am so busy making buttons and other things, i don't have as much time to bake. but i had to share this delicious granola recipe i made the other day. 

i found it here. *bonus is she lists the cost of each item. 

the only changes i made was i added a little bit of syrup - don't judge - it just needed something in my opinion. and after it was almost done i added some raisins.

how to make furniture lovely + shiny

We have been working hard to make the baby's room wonderful. We are also still very cheap. This was the look of the furniture before Philip made it beautiful and shiny and white. 

The changing table was purchased for $10 at the Thrift Store. The dresser was $75 from our favorite antique store in Norfolk - Country Boy.

Here's what he did: 

1. Strip the dresser with paint stripper
2. Light sanding
3. Oil-based primer, then lightly sanded (repeat 2x)
4. Two coats of high gloss paint
5. Two coats of water based polyurethane

...I am grateful that he is super patient because that is a lot of painting & waiting, but we love the final product!

Only a few more things to do. Hopefully we will be ready for him when he is ready!

how to make a fabric covered bulletin board

{ make this cute bulletin board }

Supplies...

• Home Decor Fabric (a few inches extras larger than the area of your bulletin board)
• Cheap Bulletin Board (i got one at Ollie's...super cheap)
• Staple gun
• Hammer (i just used this when the staple didn't go in all the way to hammer in)

Instructions...

1. Lay fabric on bulletin board to make sure it covers the entire surface area. If you have extra, cut it off, but leave at least a few inches along the borders.
2. Align the fabric on top of the board to make sure the design is situated at the way you want it to look. 
3. Begin by putting one staple in the center of the right side of the frame. Pull the fabric tight, then do the same on the left side. Continue putting staples on opposite sides, keeping the fabric tight. Repeat on the top and bottom sides, and make neat hospital corners when you reach the edges & staple them down. 
4. Viola! Enjoy your fun + easy bulletin board.
