39 weeks

Here's me and my sweet buddy boy in the Boston Public Gardens on the 11th. I turned 30 (eek) - not something I was looking forward to, but life is pretty much the same as a 29 year old, 30 just sounds old...

I will 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow so I figured I'd do another quick update. The picture is actually 37 weeks though.

How Far Along: almost 39 weeks - holy cow!!

Size of baby: a watermelon, but more specifically at 38 weeks our ultrasound suggested she is around 7lbs 14oz - I grow really big babies...I just don't get get it

Maternity Clothes: I have about 3 or four outfits I am rotating through....it's sort of annoying, but only for a little bit longer. The weather has been pretty consistently nice (70s-low 80s) so I am mostly in the two maternity dresses I own or a maxi skirt because they are most comfortable.

Gender: girl! got some confirmation of this at our ultrasound which was nice because I have wondered if they could have made a mistake

Movement: yes - she is facing left. our midwife would like her to face right because she is less likely to turn sunny side up, but I can generally tell what limb might be poking me based on the way she is facing.

Sleep: I am still exhausted enough to sleep pretty well, but my hips and knees are hurting more at night.

Cravings: Fried Calamari...hmm....salty things still...

Symptoms: tired, low energy, sore hips starting to swell a little bit, have to go to the bathroom all the time...feeling like I can't stand being pregnant any longer

Best Moment this week: I think just the fact the we are finally at the end and get to meet our baby girl soon is pretty exciting.

33 weeks!

Cannot cannot believe I could be 7 weeks away....time is flying. Still a ton around the house to do, but hopefully much of that will be accomplished next weekend.

According to the knot, the baby is the size of a honeydew melon. Yikes.
Maternity Clothes: Still about 50% - I generally can wear a size up t-shirt that I normally wear. I'm noticing some things that used to cover my belly no longer do. I still don't have a ton of maternity clothes, but I'd like to see what I can get away with for now since the end is in site!

Movement: The movements have become a lot more distinct. It is really exciting. I love when I can just feel like an unidentified body part poking out a little bit.

Sleep: Not great. It has consistently taken me a long time to fall asleep with multiple trips to the bathroom prior to falling asleep and throughout the night. I wake up with numbish hands and my hips hurt a little bit.

What I miss:  Laying on my back, not peeing all the time. Skinny feet.

Symptoms: Fingers and feet swelling - esp in the heat, restlessness - trouble sleeping, still hard to breathe while sitting.

I'll try to post a picture of me soon - just need to find the camera cord.

pintrest & 31 weeks!

In the past few days I've taken an interest in pintrest. I can't decide how I really feel about it long term, but I like that when I am surfing the web (does anyone use that phrase any more?) I can grab what I like without just having to bookmark it. I never really look at my bookmarks anyway.

This is my pintrest site for bebe ideas if you are interested ;)

Tomorrow I will be 31 weeks pregnant! I can't believe it. It has been so long. I am feeling a little bigger - sorry for no new picture. I'll have to take one soon. The baby is apparently the size of a squash. So crazy!

Should have started this sooner to pacify my sister who says I should just let my blog die, but here are a few pregnancy updates!

Maternity Clothes: Maybe 50% - I have a few loose cotton sundresses and longer t-shirts that I can still wear. I unfortunately have to wear Philip's t-shirts since mine no longer fit without bear my midriff!

Movement: Pretty frequent. My anterior placenta seems to block a lot of movement - but still can feel him pretty consistently.

Sleep: Still OK for the most part.  I am thankful for that, as I've talked to lots of pregnant women recently who can't get ANY sleep.

What I miss:  Sushi, Coffee, Cold hot dogs (jk...who would eat a cold hot dog anyway?)....there are others, but those are the main things that come to mind. I also miss having a normal sized stomach & wearing my old jeans.

Symptoms: Tingly hands in the morning, having to pee constantly, a little sleepy, hard to breathe at times....I think those are the main things.

my blog has been so neglected!

Every couple days my sister, Emily, suggests I should blog. Not sure why...we talk occasionally so she has other methods of getting information from me. But I would like to be blogging more - so here I am & hopefully will get on a little blogging kick again this July!

I am way more pregnant than I was last time I blogged. 29 weeks and a few days! I actually have started to lose track occasionally because I do not obsess over every week like I did early on. I am about 28 weeks in this picture and don't tell me I look small. I have found that to be a pet peeve. I sometimes get comments on looking small - like my belly looking small - however being 5'8" the baby has a lot more space to grow....kapeesh? Ok, I'll get down off my soap box.

me & my boo at Windy Gap - hard to see the baby bump in the slimming black dress ;)
Things have been good. Our little boy has been pretty active, but unfortunately because I have an anterior placenta I can't always feel him. I freaked out while we were at summer camp because I could not feel him move for a bit...went to the emergency room in Ashville and they put him on the monitor. He was fine & was moving so much it was hard for them to keep track, but I still couldn't feel a lot of it. So we are very grateful everything has gone smoothly so far.

Here's another picture where I look a little more pregnant...

Lots more to share....but I will stop there for now.

life is good lately

I realized Saturday morning that I am enjoying being pregnant right now. I don't feel the greatest in the mornings still, but Thursday during Campaigners I felt the baby move for real. Before I think it was just gas, but now I know how to recognize him. I sat outside on Sunday & read my Hypnobirthing book - which is another post and just could feel the little guy do some somersaults & kick type motions. He seems to be pretty active right now, but I am trying not to obsess over it because they say you do not need to count movements until 28 weeks. On top of that though we found out that my placenta is low-lying, I think is what they said meaning that if it doesn't move there is a chance we'll need a c-section & makes it less likely for me to feel movements because the placenta is making it harder for me to feel movements.

Anywho, yahoo for a good report. I had been nervous for the 20 week appointment so we are very grateful that everything looked good. Some have said the baby looks like Philip. May I just say that I think that is absurd!? The ultrasound tech said that babies do look different, but she thought he had my nose, not Philip (PTL...no offense Philip ;))

20.5 weeks (taken this past Saturday)
I'm starting to collect some pregnancy clothes finally. It has been really hard to know what to wear. I can wear a lot of my normal things if I improvise a little. I'm wear a beach cover up with leggings....hmm.

More pictures to come!

19 week update

Wow, please no comments about what I am wearing. This was taken at 17 weeks & I am 19 weeks now, but haven't had a chance to get a new picture. I really do apologize for the outfit. Stretch pants are my favorite thing now. I have a belly band, but I just don't like wearing that over my jeans. I feel like I am always have to make sure it is adjusted correctly.

Life is good though I am still nauseous. I cannot believe it really. I got sick the past 4 days but today took B6, wore Sea Bands and took every precaution I could think of.

I am starting to not fit into my clothes anymore. As pictured above. Work clothes is a real struggle because I have not bought any official maternity clothes yet, but a lot of my old clothes are snug and fit me funny now.

I am still waiting for that "burst" of energy in the second trimester. I have still felt very tired - maybe I am just lazy. It's hard to tell.

We got a ton done over SB11, or should I say Philip got a lot done? I'll post pictures soon.

let them have queso!

let the recipes commence & let the women have their queso!

queso! praise the Lord...I have missed you and discovered that normally it is WHITE AMERICAN CHEESE & not queso...a forbidden pregnancy cheese...here's the recipe!

1 package {24 slices} of white American {not the Swiss American– white American}
a couple spoonfuls of chopped jalapenos
milk to thin
Unwrap the cheese and break/cut into small pieces and place in microwave safe bowl. Add a few spoonfuls of finely chopped jalapenos. I like to chop mine in the mini-food processor. I throw a little jalapeno juice in too. Microwave on high for 1 min. Stir and add some milk to thin. Continue to microwave, stir and add milk until you’ve reached your desired consistency.  (credit)

no photo...sorry...but it was delicious!

is cooking & baking a pregnancy symptom?

for some reason this weekend, i have not felt like cleaning - which my house could really use - or doing my tax amendment, which i also really need to do.......but i have felt like baking and cooking. is this possibly a symptom of pregnancy? or maybe this is me in the second trimester with lots of energy...although it seems to come and go.

i cooked and baked like crazy this weekend. i was going to post pictures and recipes all at once, but to not overwhelm you with five recipes i am going to spread out each recipe i used throughout the week...so stay tuned, but this was from saturday...

cake balls...they would have been cake pops, but why spend the money on popsicle sticks if you don't have to? (recipe credit)
oh and yes, they are supposed to be dipped in the chocolate...but i ran out so i just did a dollop, but that was still good. much better than real cake. no me gusta real cake. and pardon the lighting...it was night time.

it has been a wonderful weekend...more recipes to come...

still sick

hello blogging world. i have not felt like saying much. i am still sick with the sweet little baby. i guess that is good, right? she or he does not like what i am having for breakfast. and i am trying to stomach some carrots as i type. yuck.

but its the weekend! yahoo! sometimes i think i am looking pregnant, but then sometimes i'm not sure. i'll be 17 weeks on tuesday & we go to the doctor on monday. i am still wondering if they will do an ultrasound or not....but in some ways i do not feel ready to know the sex. i kind of am ok not knowing now, but it will be exciting whenever we find out.

ere i am at 16weeks - a few days ago. i always look at other pregnant people and compare myself, but hopefully i will feel better after the appointment monday.

Pardon my appearance...for some reason I always have Philip take a picture at the end of the work day & I am never looking my best. Oh and I just had to add soft serve to the list of things not to eat....I appreciate all the encouraging comments about my posts a few weeks ago. But seriously, soft serve? There is a secret really long list of things you should not eat somewhere, but I don't know where to find it.

Enjoy your weekend!

14 weeks

here i am at 14 weeks. at emily, my sister's request. however, i am not sure if i am that big or if ate a big meal. i really think it depends on that.

3.23.2011

what am i supposed to eat?

This being pregnant thing is so hard! I still am getting sick, feeling nauseous, sleepy, etc...& hoping those things will let up soon, but I cannot figure out what to eat. I am generally a healthy eater. Okay...I don't know if I would really claim that or not, but my friend, Amie thinks that about me so maybe I am comparatively to the some Americans I am. However, I have just been feeling so sick and mostly things that aren't great for me - like Wendy's frostys sounds good. I have barely been able to stomach a carrot and last night's steamed broccoli made me gag as I swallowed it.

And then packing a lunch is a nightmare. I don't always have access to a refrigerator at work, so I usually try to bring something cold. Lately I have been bringing like trail mix and some fruit and water. Sometimes a peanut butter and jelly or honey. Not exactly filling....Then I found out I should not be eating honey. Then I found out that peanut butter is not so great because your baby could have a food allergy or could develop one. Okkkkk. Of course deli meats are off-limits because of listeria. Can I just vent, what I am I supposed to eat??

It gets worse. I had already read I should be avoiding food coloring. Ok, I can handle that. No artificially dyed stuff, which I imagine a lot of food & drinks have, but sure. Yes, I will try to do that. Then today through a conversation, I hear that I should be also avoiding preservatives. A-what? Aren't preservatives in like most foods from a box? And probably in saltines and ginger ale that I have been eating daily for my upset stomach. Then I started to look at some labels. No frozen pizzas, no prepared meals, no lemon juice (which I had been adding to my water to help with queasiness)....among other things that I am sure I have been eating.

I am not like super-stressed or anything. But I am kind of frustrated because I feel like I don't know what to eat. I will try to have a happier post soon.
